Who pays buyer agent fee?

The buyer’s agent fees are paid by the buyer. They can be paid directly from buyer to the agent, or paid to the agent by increasing sales price offered to seller, and then asking for seller to credit a portion of the sales price back to agent through the close of escrow.

Homebuyer’s Journey

  • Look for a real estate agent who is knowledgeable about the local market and can help you stay within your budget.

  • Determine how much you can afford to spend on a home, including the down payment.

If you need help with this, speak to a financial advisor or seek advice from your mortgage consultant.

  • Contact a lender to get pre-approved for a mortgage, and ask your real estate agent for advice on which lenders to consider.

  • View listings online, but also visit homes in person to get a feel for the area.

  • Work with your real estate agent to review disclosures and evaluate the condition of any homes of interest.

  • When you find a home you like, your real estate agent can help you develop an offer.

  • Your real estate agent can help you submit offers and negotiate with the seller to get the best price.

  • An appraisal will determine the property's true value, which is important for getting the right financing.

  • Before signing the contracts, do a final walk-through of the home.
